POSE Running

POSE CLINICS:

Saturday, September 13th 1-2pm   ALL LEVELS

$30 members, $50 Non-Members

Testimonial:  Check out these Before &  After videos.

I did the running wod right after my session with you. My running for the first time ever felt awesome and as close to effortless as it had ever.
First 800 m with 2KB- 8:55
2nd 800 with 1 kb- 6 min
Mile without kb- 7:54
I know this is lame but that might actually be a PR mile time for me, I can’t remember ever getting a sub 8 mile and to do that after being fatigued from the kb running was really great for me. I am doing this same exact workout this Friday and hoping to beat all those times. I had American open this past weekend but worked some pulling drills with that band, I have been including that in my warmups. OC throwdown is January 11-12th and I am wanting to do one more session with you (and Josh also wants in) before January. I also did some shuttle run workouts and my sprint times were faster than any other girl in the group that I had heard!

I also did a 3 mile run last Saturday and the goal was to start off easy and slightly increase pace every mile. I got 8:54/8:33/7:57 … Long distance was harder for me to maintain form which is expected. My first mile was suppose to be somewhere between 10-11 minutes (really light) but I was done sooo much quicker than I expected because it felt soooo easy!  – Casey Hutnick

    I’m always running injured. Help

Hello Gene, I can help but first I need to know a bit about the type of injury.
Injury in running is caused by 2 basic errors:
      1) Stopping movement or force meeting resistance.
This would be landing on a leg extended in front of the body for example. In this case the impact of your momentum and bodyweight onto an object (Your leg) which is positioned to “stop your movement”, can create a host of injuries.
      2) Creating leverage
An example is pushing off with the toes. Here utilizing small muscles at the far end of the lever (your foot) is unnecessary and leads to injury.
What is your specific injury? I will help you with possible causes and solutions.
The best thing would be t attend a Pose Clinic or take a private POSE session. to correct your running technique.

I’m 62 years old and have been doing crossfit for 4 months. My biggest weakness is running. Knees and shins start hurting. Would this clinic be helpful for a newbie/oldster like me?

    December 10, 2011 at 6:23 pm

    • Hi Bonnie,
Yes, the POSE Method of running will allow you to run without the pain in the knees and shins. Reducing the impact forces of running becomes increasingly important as we age and lose some of the protective resiliance of youth. At any age proper movement should not cause pain.
In the clinic you will learn the cause of your pain and how to eliminate it. It is appropriate for all levels of runners. I have worked with people who only run when caught in a hailstorm to the elite racer.
