What some of our members are saying about CrossFit San Ramon
Thank You CrossFit San Ramon. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. I say a picture is worth 48 weeks of CrossFit. I have never been in better shape. I am way skinner (minus 80 lbs), way stronger, and far more flexible than I ever thought possible (even in my twenties, heaven help 50 plus). The hardest part for me was just gathering the nerve to join, but after joining it was all gas and no breaks. The environment is amazing the trainers are better than great and the members are encouraging, energetic, and fun people. On my first day I could not do any of the WOD and I was worried that I would not fit in with the supper strong perfectly fit CrossFit team, but I was wrong everybody treated me with respect and tons of support. I am now a 1 year member of CrossFit San Ramon and loving every minute. This year is all about getting my double-unders.
I love feeling so accomplished after Crossfit workouts. The competitiveness pushes you to do your best, and all the members and trainers are really nice. Everyone knows each other and encourages each other. Even after joining for only one month, my body feels stronger and less jiggley – I never had an interest in lifting heavy weights, but crossfit makes it fun.

Well, I must admit, I have been looking for something other than the normal gym environment. I am 47 years old and I haven’t seen much of a difference in my body after working-out hard for 5 years! I competed in the Avia Wildflower Triathlon 9 months ago, and know it will take a lot to alter the shape of my body, at my age, but this is ridiculous. I have been looking for a solution..and one that doesn’t take 2 hours a day either. I had completed the P90X program, over a year ago, but again…no dramatic transformation.
I have now been with CoreQuest Fitness for 3 weeks , and doing the CrossFit Workout …….. already my upper back and core are changing. My biggest problem has been my legs. I used to have great legs, but as I have aged…not so much. I am seeing a dramatic difference. I think , and now have confidence that, in two or three months the fat will be gone from the front of my legs!! Wooohoo!
I enjoy the group atmosphere, as well as it keeps me motivated. I am performing exercises at a much higher level and the workouts change daily. It’s very hard, but I am loving it. I am finally over the painful beginning and moving on to increasing my abilities, which is nice. I really like the trainers, they are all qualified and very professional. They are committed to their client utilizing the “correct form” which has become increasingly important to avoid injury.
I have seen other friends dramatically change their bodies with CoreQuest, so I am looking forward to buying a new bathing suit this summer. I may even retire the “full body cover.” I laugh when people say they know the secret to losing weight and looking great. HA…there is NO SECRET! You need to work out hard, with a group like CoreQuest and learn to eat healthy! TADA! That is the secret!

Quite simply CrossFit San Ramon is the best fitness center I’ve ever belonged to. Part of it is CrossFit and part of it is the specific community of fitness enthusiasts and trainers at CrossFit San Ramon.
Since joining CrossFit San Ramon just over 8 months ago I feel like I have a much more balanced level of fitness. I lifted weights and did the traditional “globo-gym” stationary bike and treadmill cardio for over 20 years with various degrees of success. Since joining CrossFit San Ramon I’m more flexible, my recurring back problems are better and my resting heart rate has dropped by 5 beats per minute. I’m doing things as part of the daily workouts that I never thought possible.
But what really makes it possible are the people at CrossFit San Ramon. Everyone there is enthusiastic and dedicated to being fit. It can be competitive and even hard core at times, but it is always supportive and encouraging. The trainers and knowledgeable and helpful and there to make you a better athlete.
If you really want to get in shape Cross Fit San Ramon is the place to be.

I can’t say enough about CrossFit. I’ve tried all the other chain gyms, and none will give you a complete workout like CrossFit did for me. It’s like having your own personal trainer. Everyday is a different workout too, which makes it more interesting, more challenging, and more fun. If you believe in the “no pain – no gain” – then you will get results at CrossFit.
Just ask my Doctor…..After surgery, I lost weight, gained energy and my recovery time was cut in half!
You’re waisting your time doing those girly little classes at those other gyms. If you want a real work out CrossFit is the only place I found to personally get my whole body in shape, feel fit and have more energy!

I first was exposed to Cross fit in early 2009. I saw some of the younger firefighters in the station doing some crazy workouts and using terminology I didn’t understand like WOD, Tabata’s, Kipping, Thrusters, and Squat Thrusts, among other terms.
I have always worked out, played some sports, belonged to a nice gym, and ran when I had time. I even had a personal trainer for a period of time and completed a marathon. I thought I was in pretty good shape, until I worked out with one of our female firefighters that had been Cross fitting. She really opened my eyes to what fitness should be. She outworked me in every way.
I blamed my age, an old shoulder surgery and all the typical rationale people use. I couldn’t really do more than a few pull ups and maybe 25 push ups in a row. The truth was I was stagnant and had slowly gained too much weight over the years. Now my blood pressure was going up as well.
I found San Ramon Cross fit on line and saw pictures of San Ramon Fire personnel working out at the new gym. I walked in one day and met Tim in August of 2009. I signed up that day and had my orientation shortly after that.
The workouts seemed impossible. I was apprehensive about the first WOD (workout of the day) and worried that I wouldn’t be able to do any of it. Tim and the group made me feel immediately welcome. Tim showed me how every workout could be modified for my level of conditioning. All the members were encouraging each other as we sweated and worked as the clock ticked. The coaches watched for proper form the whole time.
The first two weeks were grueling, but I stuck with it. I got to know many of the members and looked forward to seeing them each day; naturally I began competing with those who were at the same fitness level. The workouts left me sore but with a sense of accomplishment. They were completely different every day.
Now I’m stronger than I have been in many years. I’m 11 pounds lighter and I’m keeping up with firefighters half my age. I look forward to the structured warm ups, workouts, and no nonsense approach. There is not a lot of time for talk. Most workouts last about 20 minutes and payoff more than any running or lifting I did for hours. The results come quickly, but they are earned. There are no short cuts or gimmicks here, it’s hard effective work. Every workout is tracked and the improvements are measurable. Dusty, Tim, and Travis are knowledgeable and friendly. They also happen to be in phenomenal shape. I can’t imagine going back to my old gym and getting the same results. I have specific goals I know I can attain, I see the improvements I’m gaining and the payoffs it gives me in my career are huge. This is the real deal.

Dear Tim:
I don’t know to this day what made me decide to lose weight, but in July 2008, I decided I was tired of looking and feeling like a heifer. I was obese, diabetic with high blood pressure and probably well on my way to a shorter life span. I’ve been overweight all my life and blamed much of it on genes and the fact that I loved food and didn’t want to compromise that “love” by dieting. One of my closest friends said to me one day, “I’d rather eat what I want and be happy than diet and be miserable.” I knew what she was saying because for years, I was saying the same thing. I can’t believe how foolish I was and how sad I am now- considering how much time I wasted with such a deluded sense of happiness.
Needless to say, when I go after something – I really go after it. After 6 months, I dropped 70 pounds. Yes, I lost weight, but I also lost a lot of muscle. This has been been a long but incredible journey. I joined ClubSport (yes, a globo-gym) and started exercising, but after 1 year, it just got a little boring. I wanted something more but didn’t exactly know what that “more” was until I found CrossFit.
Being introduced to this level of fitness has been an eye-opener. I never knew working out could be so much “fun” and in done in such a short amount of time but achieving even better results than running for 1 hour! It’s challenging, it’s hard and it makes me feel like a weakling, but I’ve never had fitness goals really, until now.
I just wanted to say thank you – especially to Travis, who’s been incredible and does not know how grateful I actually am for his patience and encouragement. The people I do WOD’s with who just give me the drive to push myself…it’s quite the atmosphere in your gym. I’ve enjoyed every minute of it thus far and look forward to finally being able to Rx something someday!!
