What some of our members are saying about CrossFit San Ramon
I did the running wod right after my session with you. My running for the first time ever felt awesome and as close to effortless as it had ever.
First 800 m with 2KB- 8:55
2nd 800 with 1 kb- 6 min
Mile without kb- 7:54
I know this is lame but that might actually be a PR mile time for me, I can’t remember ever getting a sub 8 mile and to do that after being fatigued from the kb running was really great for me. I am doing this same exact workout this Friday and hoping to beat all those times. I had American open this past weekend but worked some pulling drills with that band, I have been including that in my warmups. OC throwdown is January 11-12th and I am wanting to do one more session with you (and Josh also wants in) before January. I also did some shuttle run workouts and my sprint times were faster than any other girl in the group that I had heard!
I also did a 3 mile run last Saturday and the goal was to start off easy and slightly increase pace every mile. I got 8:54/8:33/7:57 … Long distance was harder for me to maintain form which is expected. My first mile was suppose to be somewhere between 10-11 minutes (really light) but I was done sooo much quicker than I expected because it felt soooo easy! - Casey Hutnick
CrossFit was not something I ever imagined I could do. After my back surgery at age 32 I had resigned to being fat and thought my days of working out and being active were pretty much over. I had convinced myself that anything beyond walking was out of the question. I was scared of injuring my back further and honestly too depressed to do much about it. In November of 2012 a friend of mine started CrossFit and was telling me about it at a party, and something clicked for me and for whatever reason I felt like I needed to check it out. I googled “CrossFit +San Ramon,” and was happy to see there was a local CrossFit less than 2 miles away from my home! I called, talked to Tim and set up my intro appointment.
November 19th - I was a nervous wreck, completely uncomfortable in my skin, beyond self- conscious and had no idea what to expect. I managed to show up and then Tim asked me that awful question: “Where do you want to be in a year?” I had to stop and really think of what to say. My goals were as follows: Lose weight, be a size 8, Less Back Pain, Learn to run, gain energy, confidence, happiness & Wellbeing. In my heart I knew I was asking a lot, but it was what I wanted. I started out slow, lost a month to pneumonia and really didn’t find myself dedicated until February 4, 2013. I hit the ground running, 5-6 days a week, every week. Keegan, Nik, Bryan, Shannon & Tim were all supportive and helpful and before I knew it I was knocking out RX WODS! My confidence was growing, my body was changing, my back was getting stronger. Then May 15th happened…I went 100% Paleo. I was ready, and willing to give 100%, and for over 5 months that’s exactly what I’ve done!
So where am I now? It’s not even been a year since I signed up, and technically 9 months since I stayed faithful to CrossFit. I’m down 49 pounds, 59.5 inches, and just bought my first size 6 pants EVER. I’m happy, healthy, confident, full of energy and can honestly say that CrossFit San Ramon and eating Paleo have made all the difference! Meeting and surpassing my 1 year goals has been a huge accomplishment in my life. My CrossFit San Ramon family is a huge part of my life. The staff and members are supportive, genuine and amazing. I’m so glad I found CrossFit San Ramon!
I have been with CFSR since October 2012. I was completely hooked after the first intro session. In one short workout I felt better than any previous workout I had ever done. After two weeks I found myself wanting to go to more classes. I started crossfit as a supplement to my other workouts, about 3 days a week. That fast ended and I found myself going to classes 6 days a week. A great thing about the classes is that everyone is at a different fitness level, but we are all working to our maximum, while motivating each other.
I have been a competitive athlete most of my life but after the competition ended and life got in the way, the next thing I knew I was floundering trying to just keep my weight down and fit into my clothes. I would run and lift some weights but with no real success. I finally decided I needed something that was very different and walked into Crossfit San Ramon met with Tim and started my crossfit obsession. In 6 months, I have lost 41 lbs. and look forward to everyday getting up to start my day at CFSR. I no longer have to try to figure out what workout to do and how to do it, that is all done for me. One of the best things is that I can just show up and work hard knowing that the workouts and nutrition that CFSR prescribe will get the results I want. CFSR made this 51 year old feel 25 again. Now rather than having a goal of losing weight to fit my clothes I have actually competed in crossfit competitions and can’t wait to do more.
If you are looking for something different or just need to get some real results with your health and fitness, Crossfit San Ramon is for you. Tim and his staff are exceptional, knowledgeable caring people that will help you with whatever fitness goals you may have.
Thank You CrossFit San Ramon. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. I say a picture is worth 48 weeks of CrossFit. I have never been in better shape. I am way skinner (minus 80 lbs), way stronger, and far more flexible than I ever thought possible (even in my twenties, heaven help 50 plus). The hardest part for me was just gathering the nerve to join, but after joining it was all gas and no breaks. The environment is amazing the trainers are better than great and the members are encouraging, energetic, and fun people. On my first day I could not do any of the WOD and I was worried that I would not fit in with the supper strong perfectly fit CrossFit team, but I was wrong everybody treated me with respect and tons of support. I am now a 1 year member of CrossFit San Ramon and loving every minute. This year is all about getting my double-unders.
I love feeling so accomplished after Crossfit workouts. The competitiveness pushes you to do your best, and all the members and trainers are really nice. Everyone knows each other and encourages each other. Even after joining for only one month, my body feels stronger and less jiggley – I never had an interest in lifting heavy weights, but crossfit makes it fun.
Well, I must admit, I have been looking for something other than the normal gym environment. I am 47 years old and I haven’t seen much of a difference in my body after working-out hard for 5 years! I competed in the Avia Wildflower Triathlon 9 months ago, and know it will take a lot to alter the shape of my body, at my age, but this is ridiculous. I have been looking for a solution..and one that doesn’t take 2 hours a day either. I had completed the P90X program, over a year ago, but again…no dramatic transformation.
I have now been with CoreQuest Fitness for 3 weeks , and doing the CrossFit Workout …….. already my upper back and core are changing. My biggest problem has been my legs. I used to have great legs, but as I have aged…not so much. I am seeing a dramatic difference. I think , and now have confidence that, in two or three months the fat will be gone from the front of my legs!! Wooohoo!
I enjoy the group atmosphere, as well as it keeps me motivated. I am performing exercises at a much higher level and the workouts change daily. It’s very hard, but I am loving it. I am finally over the painful beginning and moving on to increasing my abilities, which is nice. I really like the trainers, they are all qualified and very professional. They are committed to their client utilizing the “correct form” which has become increasingly important to avoid injury.
I have seen other friends dramatically change their bodies with CoreQuest, so I am looking forward to buying a new bathing suit this summer. I may even retire the “full body cover.” I laugh when people say they know the secret to losing weight and looking great. HA…there is NO SECRET! You need to work out hard, with a group like CoreQuest and learn to eat healthy! TADA! That is the secret!
Quite simply CrossFit San Ramon is the best fitness center I’ve ever belonged to. Part of it is CrossFit and part of it is the specific community of fitness enthusiasts and trainers at CrossFit San Ramon.
Since joining CrossFit San Ramon just over 8 months ago I feel like I have a much more balanced level of fitness. I lifted weights and did the traditional “globo-gym” stationary bike and treadmill cardio for over 20 years with various degrees of success. Since joining CrossFit San Ramon I’m more flexible, my recurring back problems are better and my resting heart rate has dropped by 5 beats per minute. I’m doing things as part of the daily workouts that I never thought possible.
But what really makes it possible are the people at CrossFit San Ramon. Everyone there is enthusiastic and dedicated to being fit. It can be competitive and even hard core at times, but it is always supportive and encouraging. The trainers and knowledgeable and helpful and there to make you a better athlete.
If you really want to get in shape Cross Fit San Ramon is the place to be.
I can’t say enough about CrossFit. I’ve tried all the other chain gyms, and none will give you a complete workout like CrossFit did for me. It’s like having your own personal trainer. Everyday is a different workout too, which makes it more interesting, more challenging, and more fun. If you believe in the “no pain – no gain” – then you will get results at CrossFit.
Just ask my Doctor…..After surgery, I lost weight, gained energy and my recovery time was cut in half!
You’re waisting your time doing those girly little classes at those other gyms. If you want a real work out CrossFit is the only place I found to personally get my whole body in shape, feel fit and have more energy!
I just wanted to take a moment to let you know
how happy I am with Crossfit. Not only is
the method working for me like nothing else
I have done, your knowledge about fitness,
the body and nutrition are amazing. You really
bring it all together for me at one place.
Thanks for everything, I feel truly lucky
to have found you and Tim.
I first was exposed to Cross fit in early 2009. I saw some of the younger firefighters in the station doing some crazy workouts and using terminology I didn’t understand like WOD, Tabata’s, Kipping, Thrusters, and Squat Thrusts, among other terms.
I have always worked out, played some sports, belonged to a nice gym, and ran when I had time. I even had a personal trainer for a period of time and completed a marathon. I thought I was in pretty good shape, until I worked out with one of our female firefighters that had been Cross fitting. She really opened my eyes to what fitness should be. She outworked me in every way.
I blamed my age, an old shoulder surgery and all the typical rationale people use. I couldn’t really do more than a few pull ups and maybe 25 push ups in a row. The truth was I was stagnant and had slowly gained too much weight over the years. Now my blood pressure was going up as well.
I found San Ramon Cross fit on line and saw pictures of San Ramon Fire personnel working out at the new gym. I walked in one day and met Tim in August of 2009. I signed up that day and had my orientation shortly after that.
The workouts seemed impossible. I was apprehensive about the first WOD (workout of the day) and worried that I wouldn’t be able to do any of it. Tim and the group made me feel immediately welcome. Tim showed me how every workout could be modified for my level of conditioning. All the members were encouraging each other as we sweated and worked as the clock ticked. The coaches watched for proper form the whole time.
The first two weeks were grueling, but I stuck with it. I got to know many of the members and looked forward to seeing them each day; naturally I began competing with those who were at the same fitness level. The workouts left me sore but with a sense of accomplishment. They were completely different every day.
Now I’m stronger than I have been in many years. I’m 11 pounds lighter and I’m keeping up with firefighters half my age. I look forward to the structured warm ups, workouts, and no nonsense approach. There is not a lot of time for talk. Most workouts last about 20 minutes and payoff more than any running or lifting I did for hours. The results come quickly, but they are earned. There are no short cuts or gimmicks here, it’s hard effective work. Every workout is tracked and the improvements are measurable. Dusty, Tim, and Travis are knowledgeable and friendly. They also happen to be in phenomenal shape. I can’t imagine going back to my old gym and getting the same results. I have specific goals I know I can attain, I see the improvements I’m gaining and the payoffs it gives me in my career are huge. This is the real deal.
