Getting Started

//
How do I become a CrossFit San Ramon Member?

Start your CrossFit journey with our “Intro Class”.  In this session we will discuss your goals and limitations.  You will then learn about our program,  food recommendations and exercise mechanics for your first CrossFit workout The sessions are done privately or in a small group (usually 1 to 6  participants).

Workout:  You will be put to the test in our “Baseline” workout designed to check your current capacity and give you the opportunity to try a CrossFit Met-Con (metabolic conditioning workout).

Nutrition: During the Intro session we will talk to you about your goals and educate you about proper ways to fuel your body for weight loss, maximizing your energy, health and performance.

Start your membership with us and we will send you a meal plan to promote proper fueling for your body. After your intro session, you will then experience CrossFit along with other students in Beginner Classes designed to accelerate your fitness development while working on your mechanical and technical skills.

When you have achieved the basic mechanics and techniques required, the WOD  Classes (workout of the day) are the next step.   Here you will continue your skill development while working with increased workloads and volume of work.

My 14 yr old daughter is a competitive figure skater. We are looking for a gym to supplement her training via core strengthening, flexibility, and stamina. Please contact me at 415.699.4574 to discuss the benefits of joining your club

Do you offer childcare? I’ve got 2 munchkins, 5 and 9. This all looks terrifying but my friend is having great results in Benica. Really want to try but am nervous. Help!!

Sorry Beth, we do not offer child care at this time. There are several great children’s programs in our building including soccer, gymnastics, swim school, cheer and martial arts. Have the kids get their exercise while you get yours!

Who do I contact for help with my running technique? It is currently nonexistent! I’ve noticed that there is a lull in the POSE classes. Perhaps a private session or two might be the way to go. Please let me know the rates for this. Thanks!!

    Pose clinic/class
My wife and I live down in Monterey and want to learn Pose running. We wanted to know of there are any upcoming clinics?

    Thanks,
    Max

    • Tim

No clinics are scheduled but I am starting an endurance class where we will be working on POSE before each workout. Classes will be held Tuesday and Thursday at 5:30 pm and Saturday at 9:30 am.

We could also book a private session. This would be your best option to learn the technique more quickly.

I will also be happy to schedule a clinic in Monterey if you have at least 8 people for me to work with.

I’ve heard great things about Crossfit and I’m very interested in joining. I just started the Paleo diet this past month and I noticed all of your nutrition resources and I’m very excited about this. I noticed you have a 2 week trial for new members; how and where do I sign up for this and when am I able to come in for my first day?

    Thank you!

I had a kayaking accident about 9 months ago and did some major damage to my knee. Some has been reconstructed, but I still have no PCL and no cartilage. I have been told by the doctor’s that running is probably the worst thing that I could do. Before the accident I played basketball and pole vaulted regularly. Since the accident I have only been swimming and biking. How could CrossFit work for me?

      Hi Ben,
Starting CrossFit (or anything else for that matter)after that kind of injury will take patience and perseverance. First in working together with trainers to find appropriate scaling and modifications for movements affected by those injuries. Then you will need to monitor how the knee is feeling and learn to walk the line between too much which will cause setbacks and too little which will limit your recovery outcome. It becomes more of an art than a science, in the end you will create your outcome. We are here to guide you in your quest to improve function and restore strength and balance.

CrossFit can work well for this type of recovery, but if you tend to be too competitive (meaning willing to damage yourself to win in a workout) personal training may be the best option at first to keep you from pushing too hard in the wrong way. You want to think of your training as x% in rehab and y% in training. finding the right balance will bring you the best results.

  9. I apologize if this is a duplicate message. I thought I had posted but cannot see the message, above. I am wondering if you have drop-in rates. I live in Fremont and work in my San Ramon office 3 days a week. I am thinking of joining at one location and dropping in at the other. Do you allow anything like that?

    June 17, 2013 at 4:09 pm

    • Tim

      Hi Justin,
We have a 10 class pass that is designed to accommodate people with inconsistent schedules. Alternatively a 2 or 3 day per week membership may prove a better value if you are able to come consistently. Drop ins are available as well.

If you have any questions Call Tim 925-820-1800.

Is there anyway to develop a strength training program based on a specific sport? Like for example soccer.

    June 18, 2013 at 12:36 am

    • Tim

      Hi John,
Yes, we develop a sport specific strength programs. We have been training the San Ramon Sharks swim team for the past 2 years.
Let me know what you are looking for; Individual or a team training? Goals for the athlete or team? Types of injuries the athlete or athletes have experienced?
From that information we can specifically target the needs of the athlete(s) while developing the overall athleticism and durability.
Contact Tim at tim@crossfitsr.com or 925-820-1800 for more information

Hi, what’s your drop-in policy? I do CrossFit in San Francisco, but my parents live in Danville and I visit them every couple weeks. Looking for a box I can pop into periodically for some action. Thanks.

    • Tim

Hi Vish, Yes we have options that will allow you to train with us when you come to town. Your first workout is free after that we can set you up with a 10 session package or a drop in program.
