Coach Lori – a reflection of 6 years at CFSR
My first day at CrossFit San Ramon was 11.12.2012 – the picture on the right is from Thanksgiving 2012 –
The picture on the left was June 2013

Welcome to my journey. I distinctly remember the fear I felt when I started at CFSR – obese, multiple health issues (acid reflux, hypothyroidism, headaches, inability to lose weight, fatigue, limitations from a back surgery, a failing marriage and major stress) I would quite literally dry heave in the car on the 1 mile drive to workout. I remember my Intro session with Tim – doing baseline and needing that large orange band and a black one and I still couldn’t do a pull up! I remember when the addiction to this CrossFit thing kicked in and I would literally come in 7 days a week. May 15, 2013, the day after my birthday I started Paleo under the guidance of Sarah Pate. I remember how excited I was to get down to 150# from 220# where I started, (235# being my heaviest). I found myself doing things like – Tough Mudder, Skiing, Playing with Ashleigh, and staying active all the time. What a HUGE difference for me! Later that year Tim and I got CrossFit kids certified and I launched our XFit kids and teens courses and eventually worked into coaching adult classes.
Over the course of 6 years a lot has happened – I have found out what health is, working diligently to earn it. I experienced a podium finish at a comp. I’ve hit PRs, I’ve fallen ill and lost over a year of training consistently, I’ve made a comeback and found a new level of capacity and strength, I embraced accessory work for better arms and abs 🙂 I’ve met more amazing people than I could even list here. I found the love of my life here!
I found my calling at CFSR – devoting my life to helping people with their fitness and health is like nothing else. I found what it’s like to wake up every day smiling and feeling Good, really Good. No more aches and pains and stomach aches and little nagging issues… Constant energy and positivity and drive to do good things all the time, always helping others.
So that’s the short of what CFSR has done for me in 6 years. It gave me a new life, a new purpose, made me a wife again, and also continues to inspire my daughter who has found her passion for Olympic Lifting here. I cannot say enough good things about what CrossFit can do for anyone. I’m so glad I got past my fears and gave it a shot.
