Youth Weightlifting

We launched YWL August 6th, 2018.  Coach Ed, a skilled Olympic Weightlifter and coach to Kimberly Wiese, who took 5th at Youth Nationals, had a vision of creating a program at CFSR to bring in more youth athletes that aspired to grow in the sport of Olympic lifting.

We sat down and crafted a Mission Statement, the heart of our program:

The mission of CrossFit San Ramon’s Youth Weightlifting Program is to deliver age appropriate training in Olympic Weightlifting in a safe environment. The program is designed for athletes to qualify for National and International competitions, as well as athletes from other sports to become better in their respective disciplines of training.

We have 7 full time young athletes in the class, and 4 more that take intermittent breaks for other sports they participate in.  We have 2 girls training for Youth Nationals in June 2019, Kimberly (12) and Ashleigh(10) and Garrett (14)  is working hard in that direction as well.

To bring in various coaching styles to our program, we added Coach Christian to our team in November, 2018.  He recently earned 3 gold medals at the USAW American Open Final and is training for the 2020 Olympics.

Coach Ed leads the program and designs the programming.  Coach Christian and Coach Lori are assistant coaches and run classes for Ed when needed.

Our next 8 week session is open for sign ups and begins Monday, January 7th.  Class times are 3:45 – 4:45 Monday, Thursday and Friday.  The cost for the 8 weeks is $500.00.  We currently have 4 spots available.  First class is free, call today to schedule a time to try us out!
